Are you a woman on the go, looking for a quick and easy makeup routine that keeps you radiant all day? Well, you've come to the right place.
Several months ago, I shared my modest makeup kit, a collection that is the sum of all my makeup products. This minimalistic approach to makeup is not only a time saver but also simplifies your makeup routine, something very appreciated by those over 50.
I don't know about you, but I don't want to spend an hour doing makeup. A quick five-minute routine is all I can afford before I get on with my day. My makeup bag only accompanies me when I'm going on a trip; otherwise, it stays neatly tucked in my drawer.
A Step-by-Step Guide to My Makeup Routine
The first thing I do is empty my makeup kit onto the counter. Once I finish each product, it returns to the bag, keeping my counter tidy.
My makeup routine has two indispensable tools – a high-magnification mirror for home use and a travel mirror. They are invaluable for seeing clearly, especially for those over 40 who may need to wear glasses.
The first product I use is a primer. Primers even everything out, prepare your skin for the makeup application. I recently discovered Mama Sol, a three-in-one product that functions as a sunscreen, a primer, and a moisturizer. It has a lovely lavender scent and feels like a real treat for your skin. If you want to try Mama Sol, use my exclusive discount code: NANCY10, for 10% off your purchase on their website.
After the primer, I clip my hair out of the way to prevent it from catching any makeup. Then I apply a thin layer of the It Cosmetics foundation for a smooth and even skin tone. One tiny pump is all I need for my entire face.
Next, I apply blush on my cheekbones rather than on the apples of my cheeks. This technique lifts the features, giving a more youthful appearance. Thrive Causemetics offers a blush with one end for application and another with a brush for blending.
A small dab of concealer under my eyes and around my nose helps to further even out my skin tone. I use a brush to apply and blend it into my skin.
For my eyes, I use MAC's cream eyeshadows. I apply a matte one all over my eyelid first, then a shimmery one on the inner corner and center of my eyelid to give a little pop.
I use Thrive's Instant Brow Fix to enhance my eyebrows. It gives them definition without being too heavy.
Next, I line my lips with MAC's lip liner in the shade 'Soar,' a nice neutral color. It prevents my lipstick from smearing and creates a more defined lip shape.
I have two favorites for lipstick: Revlon's Super Lustrous lip gloss and Chanel's pigmented lip stain. The Revlon lip gloss is easy to apply and is a great budget-friendly option, while Chanel's product leaves a beautiful stain with a glossy finish.
The final step in my routine is mascara. Thrive's liquid lash extensions mascara is perfect for those with sensitive eyes. It uses tubular technology, creating little tubes around your eyelashes that can be easily removed with warm water.
In summary, this quick and easy makeup routine keeps you looking fresh all day without wasting your time. Whether you're over 50 or not, the key is highlighting your natural beauty and not spending unnecessary time on complicated makeup steps.
In addition, here are links to my favorite magnifying mirrors (a must-have over 50) and makeup brushes.
